Salvaged Wood with a Story
Every table starts with salvaged wood from urban and wild Pacific Northwest trees. These trees endured decades of seasons, drought, and storms, developing bold grain, rich color, and character you won't find in plantation-grown lumber. That history is what gives each piece its soul, and why no two Stumptown Reclaimed tables are ever alike. I source exclusively through my partnership with Goby Walnut, one of the premier walnut suppliers in the world, located right here in Portland where I can hand-select every piece in person.
The Woods I Work With
Oregon Black Walnut -- An explosion of color unlike anything else. Deep brown with blues, purples, reds, and grays swirling through dramatic grain and figure you only get from urban and wild grown Pacific Northwest trees.
Madrone -- A natural river of red running through creamy base wood. Dense, dramatic, and full of contrast and character.
White Oak -- Strong and refined, with tight straight grain and dramatic ray flecks from quarter sawn figure. A timeless choice that works in any space.
Myrtle -- Found only on the Southern Oregon and Northern California coasts, myrtle is a kaleidoscope of color with shimmering chatoyancy that shifts in the light. Available on a limited basis.
Reclaimed Fir -- Salvaged from century-old Portland buildings, with warm patina and a story that lives on in every piece. Available as a heritage option by request.
The Shop
I'm John Tamerlano, the one man behind Stumptown Reclaimed. Every table that leaves my shop is personally built by my hands. When you order from Stumptown Reclaimed, you work directly with me. I hand-select the boards, design each build, and craft every table in my Portland shop with care, passion, and love for the process.
You're welcome to stop by and see the work in person. In the shop you'll find stacks of salvaged boards, projects in progress, and the tools I use every day. Whether you're ready to choose wood for a custom commission or simply curious about how the work is done, visiting the shop gives you a true connection to the process and to the table that will become yours.

What Customers Say
"John created an absolutely GORGEOUS dining room table for the new home that my husband and I just bought. He was so patient with us as we chose each individual piece of wood, and assured us that we were going to love the finished table. When we shared a photo of how we hoped the legs could look, he worked with his colleague to design exactly what we wanted! John is a highly-skilled craftsman, who clearly loves doing what he does." -- Dawn R.
"We've had our custom table for about 9 months now and couldn't be happier. It was great to find a local place that would make a table to exact dimensions. The quality is amazing -- buttery smooth finish, nicely rounded edges, beautiful wood and legs. The most amazing thing is that nothing seems to stain the finish. Water rings and dried-on wine spills buff right out. We highly recommend Stumptown Reclaimed." -- Kevin C.
"Absolutely beautiful and functional furniture. We have put our table to the test with pets and small children and its durability blows us away. We also get comments on how beautiful it is all the time. This was one of the most pleasant and best furniture purchases we have ever made." -- Jamie B.
